Avery Dennison marks 90 years of ‘Making Possible’

The company’s exhibit is headlined by a keynote appearance from president and CEO Deon Stander.

At Labelexpo Europe 2025, Avery Dennison is marking 90 years of “Making Possible” by showcasing how its materials science and digital identification solutions continue to unlock new value for customers across the value chain.

The company’s exhibit is headlined by a keynote appearance from president and CEO Deon Stander and will feature breakthrough solutions addressing some of today’s most urgent business challenges. The booth will also offer a bold look into the next decade of innovation — from advances in circular packaging and intelligent labels to breakthroughs that will drive sustainability efficiency, shelf appeal and performance.

Helger Reitsma, vice president of marketing, Label and Packaging Materials EMENA at Avery Dennison, comments, “Labelexpo is a world-class stage for showcasing the best of our industry, and we’re proud to mark our 90th anniversary by sharing how our innovations are helping customers stay ahead. Whether it’s rethinking materials for a more circular future, enabling connectivity and creativity in packaging and beyond, or simplifying complex compliance demands, we’re focused on unlocking new possibilities by connecting the physical and digital to solve some of the world’s most complex challenges.”

New Avery Dennison vice president and general manager, Materials Group EMENA, Mariana Rodriguez, adds, “Labelexpo 2025 is a major showcase of innovation, and we can’t wait for customers to see it in person. Avery Dennison has been pioneering the labeling and packaging sector for 90 years, and in Barcelona we are demonstrating how we are helping to address key challenges across industries including consumer packaged goods, retail, automotive and pharmaceuticals. This milestone reflects our vision of Making Possible, and we look forward to welcoming visitors to our booth.”

Avery Dennison’s Booth 3E61 includes:

Helping customers navigate circularity
The booth will bring the science of packaging recyclability and material reuse to life, showcasing solutions for every packaging format. Through real-time demonstrations, visitors will see how innovations like label release technology make it possible to recycle and reuse materials more effectively, helping brands stay ahead of tightening legislation and rising consumer expectations. Innovations on display include:

  • AD CleanFlake for PET
  • AD CleanGlass for glass
  • AD CleanFiber for paper and cardboard
  • Film label solutions for HDPE

CleanGlass and CleanFiber

Avery Dennison is displaying its expanded AD CleanGlass wash-off portfolio with its recently launched white film option. Developed in response to growing demand for reusable glass packaging and meeting brand sustainability targets, the white film joins the well-established clear version. Both solutions allow easy and clean label removal from glass bottles in a conventional bottle washer at 80 degrees Celsius, optimizing the environmental benefits of reusable glass.

Avery Dennison is highlighting AD CleanFiber, as well. This product marks the first range of INGEDE12-certified paper label solutions with newly developed adhesive technology that cleanly screens out from pulp during the recycling screening process, resulting in higher quality output for new cardboard and paper production.

Automotive and pharma

Avery Dennison is introducing the first PET labels to feature chemically recycled content especially developed for the durable goods market. These solutions meet the highest standards demanded by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) while supporting sustainability goals. Functional features such as flame retardancy can be added on-demand to meet compliance needs such as for electric vehicle (EV) batteries. In addition, the labels are being shown in combination with RFID technology to demonstrate how traceability and connectivity can be enabled across automotive and EV battery applications.

Plus, Avery Dennison has launched new UV Barrier solutions — a range of clear film pharmaceutical labels that provide a functional barrier while protecting potentially life-saving medicines from degradation caused by UV light. Traditionally, labels and packaging have been more opaque, obscuring the view of a healthcare professional conducting visual checks. This new range combines clarity and protection, without compromising performance, making it easier to see inside a vial and check the content while helping safeguard UV-sensitive medicines from deterioration and waste.

Packaging that captivates on shelf and connects with consumers

A dedicated retail zone spotlights packaging innovations designed to boost shelf appeal and drive consumer engagement, including the newest luxury materials from Avery Dennison’s Infinity and Sensorial Collections, as well as demos featuring RFID and NFC solutions.

Powering visibility from source to shelf

An interactive display shows how RFID technologies deliver end-to-end transparency, enabling real-time tracking from production to point-of-sale and helping businesses optimize operations and reduce shrink.

Driving compliance and safety

Avery Dennison is also presenting its latest functional material and RFID solutions for automotive and EV batteries supporting greater traceability and connectivity. For the pharmaceutical sector, solutions are designed to improve patient safety and meet strict regulatory standards through improved product authentication and supply chain visibility.
